I took the Cucumber Cups Stuffed with Spicy Crab recipe on Pinterest and modified a bit to fit my audience. Instead of using hot sauce, I put in a liberal amount of Old Bay seasoning instead because Maryland. It was a big hit!

Shake Shack in Charm City

image

My friend and I have been to NYC many times, but never had the chance to try Shake Shack. So, imagine our excitement when they decided to open one in Baltimore near the end of February. We decided to give it a try when the weekend was finally nice and warm-ish. There’s a lot of buzz around Shake Shack, since it went from being a small hotdog cart to a popular restaurant. But, we were disappointed with the food.

I ordered a SmokeShack burger, fries, and a mango lemonade. The total came up to $13.14! I know it’s in a tourist area, but that price demands bigger portions. Plus, the food was nothing to write home about. I’m gonna stick to local favorites, Five Guys and Z-Burger, for better and more reasonably priced food. I’m glad I tried it, though!

Random Thoughts, Work

Why I didn’t like my boss (ongoing)

My last boss was my most disliked boss of all-time. (All-time meaning that I’ve only had 3 major bosses in my lifetime and, so far, she’s been the worst.) I don’t think she’s a particularly mean person; just a highly unhappy one, who probably wanted to spread that unhappiness to everyone around her.

So, here goes my list, which I will keep updating as I remember more:

  1. She timed every conversation I would have with anyone at my desk, whether I would be on the phone, or at my desk, or at someone else’s office. When she felt like it was too long for a conversation (10 minutes), she would interrupt the conversation by pretending that she needed me or by paging me on the intercom for everyone to hear.
  2. I was forbidden to take walks. (She even threatened me with termination if I kept taking walks.)

JuiceCane external battery

JuiceCane external battery

Image from Indiegogo

My last phone didn’t last a full day on a charge, so I decided to buy an external battery for it. I stumbled onto the JuiceCane from an article on Mashable. After reading/watching favorable reviews, I pulled the trigger and backed their campaign. I chose the green JuiceCan.

It’s been great! I used it all the time, especially when I was traveling. The flashlight is very helpful, too. However, it stopped working a few days ago The flashlight/strobe bit still worked, but it stopped charging. The LED lights would indicate that I have a full charge, but the lights would never remain on long enough to charge my phone.

Last week, I contacted the man who ran the campaign and have not heard anything from him. Such a disappointment because it was a great product, and I really liked it. I guess it was too much to ask for him to care now that the campaign is over, and he’s gotten as much sales as he could out of it. Smh.

Interestingly enough. the JuiceCan is marked as “IWO Power Bank.” I Googled it and found their product page for the battery. Turns out the JuiceCan is an IWO P36 Power Bank. I wonder if the campaign founder owns IWO or if he simply bought a bunch of external batteries from them, and decided to sell it on Indiegogo as his own. Tsk Tsk
