Last day, hump day!

My last day was boring, mainly because I hadn’t had anything to do all week. Even though I got paid for these 3 days (Monday – Wednesday), it would’ve been better for my last day to have been Friday because these days were a waste of time. BUT, I’m finally out! It felt so good knowing it was my last day!

My coworker started playing his “farewell” playlist with goodies like NSync’s “Bye Bye Bye” and “Graduation” by Vitamin C. The day went by as slow as possible, but I got through it. As usual, my boss ignored me the whole day, and stopped making eye contact with me ever since I gave my notice. On the other hand, his dad came by, shook my hand, and wished me luck on my next job. At least someone’s professional, right? :-| Continue reading

Two weeks notice

I was terrified, but I put my two weeks in! Originally, I was going to tell my boss first, but he wasn’t there early in the morning, so I told his dad instead. And, it was a great decision! His dad was professional and understanding about the situation. He even asked if there was anything they can do for me to stay. Alternatively, my boss didn’t take it well. His face was a mix of anger and uncertainty Continue reading

Random Thoughts, Work

More than three months in

More than three months in and I’m still having a hard time at my new job. I feel duped into it. My interview was great. I had a fantastic rapport with my two interviewers, and they made it seem like such a great place to work. They talked about how many people have been there for decades and how much fun everyone has there because the environment is so casual and friendly.

On my first day, I immediately knew it wasn’t the place for me. I’m watched all the time and forbidden from using my cellphone, like a child. I asked, “What if I’m getting an emergency call from family?” One of the owners replied, “Give your friends and family your office number instead.” Umm, no. The whole point of having a cellphone is to be reachable. I’m not gonna tell my family and friends to add a new number just because one of my bosses doesn’t like cellphones Continue reading

My first day at the new job

Today was OK. I have a 40-minute lunch and get paid hourly. I didn’t really do much but set up my computer. I really miss my old job & I really wish they didn’t let us go

I think I just came in with really high expectations because I had so much fun at my old job. And because of that, I’m extremely disappointed. Hopefully it’ll even out and I’ll learn to like it, too.

I’m just very emotional right now because I’m just so disappointed and angry. I’m sure I’ll get over it when I get into a routine.

Opportunities, Work

All the jobs!

Whenever I would get frustrated by the lack of results I’ve had in the past three months of job hunting, my friends would always attribute to it being summertime and everyone being on vacation. They promised that the interviews would come after or near Labor Day. They were right. I’ve been on two interviews since Labor Day and have turned down three others.

Why did I turn down three others? Because I got a job offer! It was my first interview after Labor Day and I just hit it off with my interviewers. I felt at ease during the interview and just got a really good vibe from them. The feeling was mutual, according to them. After hearing good things about me from my references, I was offered the position. Continue reading
