Blossom Kite Festival

Kites by the Washington Monument

Colorful kites surround the Washington Monument

We hosted six people visiting from the Motherland: my aunt, grandma, and their doctor friends. They timed their visit with the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C., so we went there. Their arrival coincided with the Blossom Kite Festival on the grounds of the Washington Monument on the National Mall. There were SO MANY people and SO MANY kites!

Unfortunately, it was an unusually cold spring day and crazily overcast. But, all the colorful kites made up for it. I wish I brought a kite, so I could fly it along with everyone else. It looked really fun! My favorite ones were the irregularly shaped kites that looked like spaceships, or legs walking on air. (One of the legs even hit someone on the head when the kite steadily lost air. I wish I took a picture of it!)

Look, Nemo!

Look, Nemo!

I’ve been to Washington, DC many times, but I never get tired of seeing the sights. There are always a crowd of tourists whenever I go there, and their excitement always rubs off on me. It’s a good feeling It was a great start to our visitors’ U.S. vacation. I’m sure they had loads of fun, too!

A fusion of color

As per Stress reliever and Let’s get crafty…, I’ve been feeling crafty lately; plus, it’s starting to get cold again, so I decided to whip up a scarf. A classmate of mine gave me a HUGE bag full of yarn as a thank you when I helped her with her class website, so I went digging through that stash to make these projects. I’ve crocheted 4 scarfs so far.

A pale plum-colored scarf modeled after Luna Lovegood's scarf.

This scarf is for my friend. It’s modeled from Luna Lovegood’s scarf from the Harry Potter movies. You can get the free pattern here. Continue reading

Pasalubong

Sponge Cola CDs

When my parents came back from their Philippine vacation, they brought back some great “pasalubong” (homecoming gifts). My most anticipated one was Sponge Cola‘s latest CD, Araw Oras Tagpuan. I have all the other Sponge Cola albums, which my father forgot. So, when the sales lady at SM Fairview showed him their Sponge Cola CD inventory, he bought them all

No complaints! I like the extras that the repacks had. In the (hopefully near) future, I’m thinking of holding a giveaway of sorts to promote my blog by giving away my extra Sponge Cola CDs and perhaps some cute things I find in my favorite shops. So, watch out for that!

Leftover unmoderated comments

Over the past few days, I’ve noticed an uptick in spam comments in my dashboard. Email notifications are set up when comments go into moderation so my email has been blowing up lately! I’m assuming the traffic is good for my blog as it’ll help bump up my page ranking?

Funnily enough, those icons represent exactly what I think of these spammers.

The Sorting Hat - Pottermore

The Sorting Hat - Pottermore

As every Harry Potter fan knows, the Sorting Hat Ceremony is one of the most important events in a student’s life as this is the moment when the Hat will decide which House you will spend all seven of your years at school. These are the students you will be living with and spending most of your time with. My favorite Houses are Gryffindor (of course!) and Ravenclaw, but I am happy to be able to help shape Pottermore before everyone else, so any House will be fine.
